Wanderlust Wednesday: "Medieval Journey" in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal

Today's Wanderlust Wednesday is not about the usual road trips but about a journey in time!
The Medieval Journey of Santa Maria da Feira (Porto, Portugal) has been considered one of the best Medieval Fairs in the whole country (not Renaissance Fair as many would call it as this is a different historic period we're talking about). Thousands of people visit this festival every year and I have been one of them for the last five. Honestly, would hate to miss one! This Medieval Fair is the perfect opportunity to awaken your most whimsical side and get lost in the midst of timeless music, unusual yummy foods and beverages, a whole artisan galore and a blissful, festive atmosphere.

So here are some of my favourite things of this year's Medieval Journey:

[Disclaimer: you might notice that some faces in the pictures are blurred; this is to protect these people's identities.]

There are some things about this event that make me drive completely crazy. One of them is the esotheric galore, like the crystal stalls in the picture above. Or the salt lamps; I really really want one. If only they weren't so expensive.

Anyway, this festival is stunning in all ways, but during nighttime it gets simply magical. This is however the worst time to walk through the fair because it gets so damn crowded to the point of frustration! Unless you come during the weekdays- which is not always possible.

Alas, the fair is already over and I'm back to the 21st century, but I know that next year I'll be coming back for more. I just can't get enough of it. :)

Lots of love,
