How to: Add a Signature to your Blog Posts!

Today I'll show you how to add a simple detail to your blog which can mean the difference in its design and template customization! Adding a signature to your blog posts is actually super easy and fun. And the final result is a cute element that really makes your blog much more personalized and special.

The first step is, of course, to design your signature and save it as an image file. I recommend saving it as a png and not as a jpeg unless your blog has (and will keep on having) a white background. This is mainly because .jpeg images will show a white box around your text, while .png images will be transparent.

After your signature image is ready for use, upload it to a free image hosting website. I personally like to use Photobucket.
So now for the real thing!

1. Log in onto your blog and click on 'Settings' in the main menu (on the left side). Then, click on 'Posts and comments'.

2. Click on 'Add', right next to Post Template.

3. A text box will expand where you just clicked. Copy and paste the following code into it:

4. Replace YOUR-IMAGE-URL with your signature's direct link from wherever you hosted it. But leave the inverted commas the way they are!

5. Click on the orange 'Save Settings' button in the top right corner of the page.

Your signature will now appear as an image at the bottom of all your future blog posts. It will not, however, show up in past ones.

Tip: If you'd like your signature to be always centered, just add
right BEFORE your signature's direct link and
right AFTER it (both still inside the inverted commas)!

I hope this tutorial comes in handy to customize your blog to your liking! Please feel free to let me know in the comments below if you liked it!

Gone in an adventure!

”My restless, roaming spirit would not allow me to remain at home very long.”
Buffalo Bill

I am now back from my 5 day camping! I can't believe it is already over. It had been around five years since the last time I'd travelled for some real vacation and, on the one hand, I would have so much more of these last 5 days. On the other, I'm so happy for the opportunity to feed my wanderlust and for all the awesome moments I've shared with my man, in a place we hadn't visited since our teenage years. It was so good to remember old hidden nooks and the beauty of small things of Vila Flor (Bragança, Portugal).

When I arrived back home and turned my computer on for the first time since last Sunday (oh, sweet Internet?), I was astonished to notice my pyramid ring had reached Etsy's front page a few days ago. The messages and notifications are so many they will make me a very happy busy bee for the whole weekend! Thanks so much for all the support! ❤

I will surely talk about my getaway and share some of its best experiences in the next 'Wanderlust Wednesday'. Until then, I'll finish unpacking my bags and come back to business, so all pending orders will be sent out next Monday. :)

Have a fabulous weekend,

Full Buck Moon + Vacation Mode

Image found on Tumblr.

Just popping in to let you all know about the newest FULL MOON round-up by Mystic Mamma for this third Supermoon of the year! It will happen tomorrow (July 22nd) in the sign of Aquarius and, although not as powerful and energy-filled as June's Supermoon, I believe her effect and glory will be quite considerable as she will appear to be bigger and brighter than the usual full moons. Feel free to read the full report at Mystic Mamma's page for many inspiring details by readers of the planetary bodies.

Also, tomorrow morning I'm leaving for a few days to camp with my man so the shop will be on hold for vacation during the next week. I will not be activating vacation mode because I still have my giveaway running but all orders placed in the meanwhile will only be sent out starting from July 29th after I come back from my adventures! Thanks for the understanding ;)

And last but not least, don't forget to try your luck at my Summer Giveaway for a pair of pastel dipped triangle studs! You can easily access the details and widget anytime by clicking the 'GIVEAWAY' page tab on top of this blog. I have even extended the giveaway time so you now have until August 4th to participate!

If you get a chance tomorrow night, see if you can check out the SUPER MOON! I surely will, under the starry sky of the mountainous rural Portugal. ☾

Wishing a lovely week,

Five Facts Friday

It seems Summer itself is on vacation as the last couple of weeks have been quite grey, even tough forecasters insist on calling for blue skies and steady heat every single day. It's actually driving me crazy 'cause I'm planning to go camping for 5 days and I'm afraid I won't be having the best of it! But between making checklists and trying not to brood about uncertain stuff, it's time for a few more fun facts about me in this Five Facts Friday.

1. Speaking of Summer, I love the heat! I hate being indoors on sunny days and I'll never complain about the heat. Unless I'm working. Or trying to sleep.

2. I am also a big fan of Game of Thrones. I've watched the 3 seasons (each one more than once) and just started reading the books but I can't wait for the missing volumes and to know how it all ends.

3. Me and my boyfriend have been in a relationship for 6 years and a half. When we started dating, most of our friends said it wouldn't last.

4. I don't have a 'favorite' animal but when I was younger I used to have this huge fascination with dolphins. Even now I dream of someday swimming with them.

5. My hair is ridiculously thin. It doesn't matter if I spend an entire hour styling it- in 30 mins it will be straight again. Sad thing is, it used to be wavy until a few years ago.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Wanderlust Wednesday: Almendra, Portugal

Although I'm usually stuck in one place, I suffer from wanderlust. If you do too, then you know exactly what I'm talking about!

Wanderlust is a strong desire for (or sometimes an impulse to) wander, travel or even explore the world. It is most commonly characterized by a longing for places where one has never been before, but wanderlust will often reach a deeper level when the need for a search also involves philosophy, religion, or even idyllic places. In other words, it represents the journey to understand one's very existence.

I love visiting new places, meeting new customs and I've always loved exploring- ever since I was a kid playing outdoors. Sadly, I rarely have the time or chance to feed my wanderlust, but thanks to my boyfriend and his family I've had the opportunity to meet a lovely place the last weekend: the village of Almendra, in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Portugal.

I have then created this "Wanderlust Wednesday" series, so I can occasionaly show you and talk about places I've been to (recently or not)!

Almendra is a small historic village located in northern Portugal, very close to the border with Spain. It used to be the county seat of Guarda until the establishment of the town of Vila Nova de Foz Coa in 1855. My boyfriend's family (on his father's side) is originally from there, but it had been almost a decade since the last time they had visited their relatives.

Me, my boyfriend and his parents left our hometown last Saturday evening and arrived Almendra around 10.00 pm for a late meal and a nocturne walk in the village. Sadly I forgot to take my camera with me as we left the villa we stood in, so I don't have any good pictures of the village itself. But the landscape is indeed breathtaking- just like most of the portuguese countryside.

The kitchen garden. Fresh veggies straight to our table :)

Yummy homemade bread!
The road leading to the villa.

On Sunday afternoon, we all took a stroll through the outskirts of Almendra to visit some nice spots, including the Douro river itself. There are a LOT of beautiful things to say about the Douro so I'll leave it to another time! I would have loved to take a swim in the river but the current was quite treacherous. Maybe next time. But we found the remnants of an old railway, as well as an ancient stone well sheltered in a grove. The heat was almost too much so its freezing water was truly a blessing!

The stream of Aguiar (ribeira de Aguiar) - a holy place for Almendra's population.

The weekend didn't actually end so well to my man. We both came back home on Monday morning, a little earlier than the rest of the family because of his exams- but not before we stopped in Vila Nova de Foz Côa's emergency department. For the first time in his life, he had this super ugly allergic reaction to insect bites. At first we thought he was just a "better" mosquito magnet, but then both his arms and legs started to swell. So he had to take not one, but two shots of antihistamine.

As we left the emergency department to buy his prescribed meds, we came across this very beautiful road in the heart of the town with figures resembling petroglyphs in the pavement. I would love to visit the archaeological heritage of Foz Côa someday.

The road back home.
This is it for the first Wanderlust Wednesday. There was so much more to write about this trip but then I would spend the rest of the day finishing this post! I hope I'll be able to update this series relatively often in the future, considering how rare this kind of opportunities is to me. But one can always dream of distant places, right? :)

All the best,

Five Facts Friday

The meteorologists must be drunk. Where're the sun and the 32º C they've been talking about for the last three days? Anyway, another week has passed and it's now time for the second Five Facts Friday!
1. I believe myself to be a true Sagittarian. I have a disdain for routine, get bored easily and hate being told what to do (tssk, tssk). I also have a highly idealistic nature which makes me have an often blind faith in people and in the world itself, but I only try to do my best on having a positive outlook on life.

2. I hate wine, beer and champagne. I really can't get used to their taste. But gimme a cup of mead, apple cider or flavoured vodka (black or lemon especially)...

3. I've always had a lot of self-control with spending money, but there are mainly three things I can't resist when it comes to shopping girly stuff: shorts, flat sandals and nail polish.

4. People usually say I'm a little obsessive-compulsive. But in reality I'm just an organized messy person.

5. I love Disney classics! (who doesn't?) It's been about 18 years since the first time I watched Lion King and Mufasa's death still brings a tear to my eye. Also, the ending of Pocahontas.
*sob sob*

This is only a part of them.

Happy Friday and don't forget to enter my first GIVEAWAY to win a pair of my dipped triangle stud earrings! It is open worldwide. ❤

How to Make: Watermelon Lemonade

The last couple of weeks have been hot hot hot and Summer calls for many things as it reaches its peak. Two of them are watermelon and lemonade; there's nothing better than soaking up in the sun with a glass of fresh lemonade in our hand or finishing a light meal with juicy red watermelon. Today I bring a very simple recipe for a drink which is both things mixed into one! A perfect and very refreshing way to celebrate Summertime.

Watermelon Lemonade
Limonada de Melancia

Ingredients: Ingredientes:
(makes a good sized jug full) (enche um jarro grande)

2 lemons 2 limões
3 watermelon slices 3 fatias de melancia
sugar (preferably non-refined) açúcar q.b. (de preferência não refinado)
fresh water água fresca
opcional: lemon wedges for garnish opcional: rodelas de limão para enfeitar

Remove the seeds and rind of the watermelon and put the fresh watermelon in a bowl or blender. Puree in the blender or use your magic wand (it should get pretty liquid this way, with no further need to pour the puree through a strainer).
Cut your couple of lemons in half and squeeze or juice them.
You should end up with approx. 1 1/2 cup of watermelon puree/juice and 3/4 cup of fresh-squeezed lemon juice.
Mix both liquids into a pitcher and add the sugar and water, mixing all the ingredients. You can also take a few lemon peels from the squeezed lemons for extra flavour, instead of throwing them out. Place the pitcher in the freezer and serve cold!

Colocar no frigorífico e servir frio!

Enjoy your drink!
Obs. I bet a splash of vodka would make this a fun and yummy cocktail!

Have a great week,

Five Facts Friday

I have many plans for this blog, but one of my very first ideas was a Five Facts Friday series. This will be a weekly post on a few things about me, so my readers and everyone who follows Terra Mystique gets to know me better! Despite of having created this blog mainly because of my new small business, I want it to have a personal twist and feature some inspiration, DIY's and daily life posts. So, starting today, here are the first five facts!
1. I've finished up my degree in Landscape Architecture last year and am now going for the second and last year of the Master Program. Noone actually believes how intensive this course is, but it makes me spend many sleepless nights and too much time on the computer, even on weekends and holidays. I'm so glad I'm on vacation until September.

2. My parents are divorced since I was 8. I currently live with my mother and younger sister, although I have a huge family.

3. I'm super shy and quiet. It's so hard for me to be myself around new people.

4. Fear of the dark was my biggest phobia when I was a kid. I used to sleep with a small light beside my bed every night. I don't know why but I've always felt very vulnerable in the dark.

5. I am what they call a 'crazy cat lady'. I've owned many cats during my life but I currently own a single male called Misha. He's completed one year of age the current month. He's my little whiskered fellow. :)

This is it for the first Five Facts Friday. Happy friday everyone and have a great weekend with lots of Summer fun!
